James Down is a self-taught contemporary artist, based in the Kimberley region for the past two decades.
He is known for his deep love for the region which is reflected in his vibrant artworks from realism to whimsical styles which capture the essence of the Kimberley, making him a notable figure in the Australian art scene.
His works now hanging on countless walls across Australia and overseas.
Now selling works worldwide and being on Broome’s ‘To Do’ list, Broome Gallery has grown into a significant attraction which offers an immersive experience into James Downs’ artistic world. It also brings alongside local artists, each drawing inspiration from the colours and stories of the Kimberley
Ian Mcconnell
Ian McConnell was born in 1952 in Melbourne. Graduate of the Canberra School of Art from 1975 to 1980, McConnell brings decades of honed craftsmanship to his canvases. Since 1990, he has dedicated himself to the vibrant art scene of Broome.

Claudia Billiau is one of the talented artists we’re proud to feature at Broome Gallery. Born in Berlin in 1961, Claudia’s love for art started over 25 years ago with pottery and painting.
Ayesha Salkilld
Ayesha Salkilld is a Broome-born artist who draws inspiration from the colours and textures of the Kimberley.Growing up around pindan red dirt, turquoise tides, and big open skies has shaped the way she creates.
Her work is all about capturing the feeling of the place she’s always called home.

Elaine “Doc” Tribbick is a local Broome artist whose love of Australian landscapes, flora and fauna continues to spark her imagination. Elaine creates her fine art paintings with attention to detail and natural skill, her art explodes with colour, character, and wit.
