James Down

For more than two decades, James Down has called the Kimberley home. A self-taught artist with a background in signwriting, James captures the energy and emotion of the region through vibrant brushwork and rich, layered colours.

His paintings range from strikingly realistic to joyfully whimsical, each one infused with a deep love for the land, its people, and its stories. His works now hang on walls across Australia and around the world, sharing a piece of the Kimberley wherever they go.
